Lesson Planning
This section discusses and links to online resources that I have found helpful in planning lessons. Click on the images for each of the resources to for more information on how to incorporate these into your lesson plans, and how these tools can help to achieve your learner aims. My personal experiences and further reading around these resources are all discussed in my Blog.
As teachers, there are many things we need to consider before including anything in our lessons plans, but even more so when it comes to incorporating technology into our classrooms. First and foremost, as noted in the TPACK (Koehler and Mishra, 2009) and Mobile Pedagogy (Kukulska-Hulme, Norris and Donohue, 2015) frameworks (see my blog for more), we need to ensure that the technology we include is enhancing our lesson. In addition to this, there are a number of skills that Hampel and Stickler (2005) suggest teachers need if they are to engage in online teaching activities, demonstrated in the skills pyramid below:
Although many experienced teachers may feel that they already possess some of these skills, particularly those that can be demonstrated in the classroom, such as facilitating communicative competence, it should be noted that different or additional techniques may be required to achieve such results in an online context (Walker & White, 2013).
